Palm Beach
County area recreation
Thinking
of renting in the PGA Blvd. to Northlake Blvd. region of
Palm
Beach Gardens, Florida for the season?
Here's
a list of activities around the neighborhood as well as in the
greater
Palm Beach County area to help you plan your stay.
-
Walking
Trails - Given the size of each gated community,
there are miles of sidewalks and walking trails to explore. Made of gravel,
woodchips and asphalt, these routes wind through neighborhoods and meandor
around the numerous lakes. Residents can also hop on one of the golf cart
paths that make their way through several golf courses and see the neighborhood
from the back side. This is a great way to explore the beautiful homes
in the evenings.
-
Golf Courses
- With the neighboring PGA of America golf headquarters nearby, one can
bet there are a number of golfing opportunities just a short drive away.
Look at the
West
Palm Beach Activities website for everything from golf locations and
public parks to dive shops and fishing charters, including a detailed map
of the area.
-
The Beach
- With the ocean just five miles down the road, there's always time to
head down to the beach for an afternoon of sunshine or to catch the perfect
sunrise. Walk the stretch of sand from Jupiter to Juno Beach in the evening
as the sunset turns low-lying clouds to purple and pink. Odds are you'll
have most of the beach to yourself!
-
Wine Tastings
- There are several liquor stores in the area that put on some great wine
tastings each month. Offering between 30 and 80 different labels each tasting,
these informal events are a bargain at $5-$10. And they're a great way
to add a new 'social hour' to the schedule! From Jupiter south to PGA Blvd.,
they're offered by Wine Spirits & More, Crown Liquors, Flame Liquors
and ABC Liquors. Call them for schedules.
-
Kravis
Center - Keep in touch with the performing
arts and pick up a schedule
to see live concerts from legendary performers, Broadway-style shows and
other top-notch acts.
-
Fishing
- Some of the biggest largemouth bass in Palm Beach County can be found
in the endless array of lakes and canals throughout the private gated communities,
providing ample opportunity to catch lunker bass to 14lbs. This region
of South Florida has some of the best offshore as well as inshore fishing
on the east coast. Charter a boat in Jupiter and head out for some awesome
dolphin (mahi-mahi), sailfish and wahoo action. Anglers also hook up with
blue marlin from time to time just a few miles off the shoreline. Or experience
some great flats fishing along the Intracoastal where big snook, seatrout,
redfish, jacks and tarpon can be found crusing the shallows.
-
Weekly
Events - Look at the GoPBI
website for a listing of regional activities each month.
-
Explore
Palm Beach - Just 15 minutes down I-95 awaits
some of the best shopping and people watching in Florida. With all the
big name boutiques, art galleries and specialty shops, there's never a
shortage of window shopping. Take a break from walking and have lunch at
one of the many hot restaurants on the island like Chuck & Harold's
or Testas on the main drag. Or walk over to The Breakers, the legendary
hotel that Palm Beach made famous. Rent a bike and ride along the scenic
route of the bike path, which runs between the Intracoastal and the back
yards of the magnificent Palm Beach mansions. Exploring this trail is a
must to get a first-hand look at the beauty of the island, not to mention
an intimate look at the way its residents live!
